Abstract:
The unit and storm hydrographs for the catchments of Oba River and Otin River, Osun State, Nigeria were developed. Soil Conservation Service (SCS) and Snyder's unit hydrograph methods were used to develop synthetic hydrographs for the four catchments, while the SCS Curve Number method was used to estimate excess rainfall values from rainfall depth of different return periods. The peak storm flows obtained based on the unit hydrograph ordinates using convolution procedures determined by SCS for rainfall events of 10yr, 20yr, 50yr, 100yr and 200yr return periods for Oba River and Otin River vary from 336.12 m3/s to 611.53 m3/s while those based on Snyder's method vary from 142.31 m3/s to 283.34 m3/s for both Oba River and Otin River. The statistical analysis at 5% level of significance indicated that there were significant differences in the two methods. The analysis shows that the values of the peak flows obtained from SCS method is higher by about 58.11% and 54.08% than that of Snyder's method for both the Oba and Otin rivers respectively. SCS method was recommended for use on the four watersheds since it incorporates most major hydrological and morphological characteristics of the basins like the watershed area, main channel length, river channel slope and watershed slope.

International Journal of Latest Engineering Research and Applications, pp 38 - 42, Vol 01 - No. 03, 2016
Abstract:
Listening to music causes either positive or negative effect while performing any task. To identify the effect in this paper EEG signal was acquired from different subjects while performing N-back task & listening to music. The N-back task has four levels of cognitive load which is designed & presented to subject using Paradigm stimulus presentation software (PSPS).N-back task is performed for 4 trials. During first trial without music, second trial with Country music, third trial with Rock music & Fourth trial with Jazz music. During the performance of N-back task the Reaction time (RT) is also measured. It is observed that the subjects can perform n-back task well without music. A total of seven parameters were extracted. From these it is seen that Rock music has negative effects which as less performance. While comparing Country and Jazz music the performance and effect are similar to no music condition. For no music, the subject performed well in all the cognitive loads. The variations are seen in the Frontal and temporal electrodes in each band. From this it can be noted that the Frontal and temporal lobes are more active compared to the other lobes, so while performing any tasks along with music, greater importance can be given for Frontal & temporal lobe electrodes and pleasant music like Country and Jazz music has been preferred. So it is better to do any task without listening music.

International Journal of Latest Engineering Research and Applications, pp 64 - 66, Vol 01 - No. 03, 2016
Abstract:
Intrabody Communication (IBC) is a method that uses the human body as a transmission medium for transmission of electrical signals, providing an efficient channel to connect devices within body sensor networks (BSN) or under personal area network (PAN), and presenting notorious advantages in comparison with usual wireless RF standards such as Bluetooth and Zigbee. For instance, these standards were intended to operate at distances of several tens of meters, causing electromagnetic energy to be radiated into the environment, thus increasing power consumption. In contrast, IBC is based on near-field coupling, in such a way that the popular of the signal is confined through the surface of the body, without much energy being radiated into the air. This feature makes IBC suitable for use with low frequencies and low power signals, thus decreasing consumption, allowing miniaturization, and mitigating external interferences. These advantages have led researchers to progress IBC electronic prototypes as well as to define new applications. Therefore, IBC is a promising approach capable of covering some of the core technical challenges that are yet to be resolved in BSN, such as the necessity of small-size, power-saving, and miniaturized intelligent wearable devices.

Abstract:
Recently, heat transfer enhancement for automobiles by adding solid nanoparticles to liquid is significant. The nanomaterial's have high heat transfer rate. Most of the research has been conducted using nanoparticles alone for radiators. A natural preservative with nanofluids for further improvement of heat transfer is proposed. Lemon juice is one of the traditional and best cooling medium. Accordingly, an attempt is made by adding natural lemon juice as an additional fluid with nanofluids. Experimental analysis is carried out by varying different input temperatures and mass flow rate. This research included the heat transfer rate by forced convection. The juice which is extracted from the natural available lemon and dispersed in the Aluminum oxide nanofluids prepared previously. Additionally, comparison is conceded with the CFD analysis have done. The experimental result shows that the heat transfer rate increases and proves that the proposed combination of additives is an enriched solution for the heat transfer enhancement.

International Journal of Latest Engineering Research and Applications, pp 103 - 108, Vol 01 - No. 03, 2016
Abstract:
Facial recognition systems are computer-based security systems that are able to automatically detect and identify human faces. Facial recognition has gained increasing interest in the recent decade. Over the years there have been several techniques being developed to achieve high success rate of accuracy in the identification and verification of individuals for authentication in security systems. Face recognition systems are commonly trained with a database of face images, becoming "familiar" with the given faces. Many reported methods rely heavily on training database size and representativeness. But collecting training images covering, for instance, a wide range of viewpoints, different expressions and illumination conditions is difficult and costly. Moreover, there may be only one face image per person at low image resolution or quality. In these situations, face recognition techniques usually suffer serious performance drop. Here we present effective algorithms that deal with single image per person database, despite issues with illumination, face expression and pose variation.

Abstract:
The aim of the project is to carry out the co-digestion of sugarcane waste in the form of Sugarcane Bagasse and Vegetable Waste to enhance the biogas production. The main issue for co-digestion process lies in balancing several parameters in the co-substrate mixture: macro and micronutrient, C: N ratio, toxic compounds, biodegradable organic matter and dry matter. The experiment was carried out in 250 ml batch digester for 24 days retention period. The co-digestion was carried on mesophilic temperature with cow dung as an inoculum. In this work, to optimize the different proportion (0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%) of sugarcane bagasse, inoculum, moisture content, PH and alkalinity. The investigation helps to find the most proper ratio of different co-substrate that provide an optimize biodegradation potential or enhance methane potential. In the optimization, the feasibility of using sugarcane bagasse and vegetable waste as co-digestion in the range of (50%) both provided the best condition to increase the methane production. The biogas was collected by the water replacement method. In conclusion, anaerobic co-digestion of sugarcane bagasse waste and vegetable waste appears to be a suitable technology to treat such wastes, obtaining a renewable source of energy from biogas.
