Title:
Policy, Performance and Problems of Disinvestment in Indian Central Public Sector Enterprises

Abstract:
The Government of India (GoI), soon after independence, adopted a mixed economy approach to speed and build up the low economic profile by adopting Articles of 38 and 39 of Constitution of India, various Industrial Policy Resolutions and Five Year Planning Policy, which all put together facilitated establishment and growth of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), to accelerate the industrialization of the country with a simultaneous objective of fulfilling the social responsibilities. While during the year 1951 there were only five CPSEs with an investment of Rs 29 crores, there are 348 CPSEs with a total investment of Rs. 26, 33,956 crores by the end of 31.03.2019. It is also a fact that after four decades of establishing CPSEs the country was facing an alarming situation, during the year 1991-92, with very little foreign exchange reserves available to meet both the National and international trade demands. Therefore, GoI decided to implement New Economic Policy (NEP), with a host of measures including Disinvestment of CPSEs. While Disinvestment was being implemented, GoI, based on performance of CPSEs, categorized a few of them as Miniratna, Navaratna during the year 1997 and Maharatna, during the year 2009, with an expectation that they become global giants over a period of time. Under such a paradoxical situation where in on one hand the CPSEs are being subjected to disinvestment and on the other hand several CPSEs are categorized as Miniratna, Navaratna and Maharatna. Further, disinvestment also faces several problems during its implementation. It is under such a scenario and also the fact that it is nearing three decades being completed ever since Disinvestment made its presence in this country, the study, “Policy, Performance and Problems of Disinvestment in Indian Central Public Sector Enterprises” assumes significance.

Manufacturing Applications for Industrial Robotics

Abstract:
As new technologies are invented and developed, manufacturers look to leverage them to improve various aspects of their manufacturing processes. Robotics has seen a number of improvements and applications in various manufacturing sectors and has allowed for a number of improvements in process. In the automobile industry, robots are allowing us to be more competitive and profitable in the global market. In high demand parts production, robots are having tremendous impact on lead time. In aerospace manufacturing, those improvements are usually driven by reducing costs and lead time. In the coal industry, robotics has had a large impact on both efficiency and employee safety while working in coal mines. While there have been some negative stigmas associated with industrial robotics and job security, proper employee education and perspective on how robots can benefit their careers can help to increase employee support of incorporating robots. This paper looks at how robotics has impacted these fields and speculates on future applications and improvements.

Financial services marketing is the use of marketing tools used by marketers in the financial services sector to attract new customers or retain existing ones.

Title:
Investigation of Effects of Geometry and Geotechnical Properties on Seismic Response of Concrete Gravity Dam

Abstract:
In the present study proposed a dam of Nalgaad hydropower project is chosen for the analysis with some modification has been done for the analysis. Finite element modeling has been done considering dam-reservoir- foundation interaction. Model analysis has been performed to find out the effect of the foundation modulus of elasticity on a fundamental natural frequency of a dam. It has been found that the foundation modulus of elasticity has a significant effect on fundamental natural frequency up to certain values i.e. ratio of modulus of elasticity of foundation to that of the dam is approximate to 4. Also, it has been found that the modulus of elasticity of foundation has more effect on the fundamental frequency when the reservoir is empty rather than the reservoir is full. The modal analysis concludes that if the ratio of modulus of elasticity of foundation to that of the dam is greater or equal to four, dynamic analysis can be done assuming a fixed base condition of the dam. Also, analysis has been performed for dam shape optimization. Two different shapes of the dam having the same cross-sectional area are chosen, one having downstream shape curve and others have downstream shape slope. Non-linear time history analysis has been performed for both models. Concrete damage plasticity (CDP) is used for material non-linearity. Responses of both models compared in terms of crest displacement, principal stress, plastic strain, and toe slip. It has been concluded that dam having a downstream shape curve has better seismic performance that of dam having downstream shape slope.

Title:
Prediction of Compressive Strength of High Strength Concrete Using Multiple Linear Regression Equation (MLRE) and Numerical model

Abstract:
Considerable increase in use of statics and its methods in representing the complex relationship between factors that contributes in the strength of concrete is noted these days. There is a gap in literature about the statistical and numerical studies of high strength concrete. An effort is made in this research to give an equation that can predict the values of compressive strength of High strength concrete. Moreover, the experimental results and the predicted values of SPSS are validated by using ABAQUS, a finite element modeling tool. The objective of this study is to provide 3D Finite Element model (using ABAQUS) and to use simple data to develop linear regression model (using IBM SPSS) for prediction of Compressive strength of High strength Concrete. HSC was developed by the use of locally available materials such as quartz powder, silica fume, steel fibers and quartz aggregates. The study also investigates the performance of concrete mixtures in terms of Compressive strength at age of 7 and 28 days. The effect of using quartz aggregates in place of quartz powder reduced the compressive strength. Steam curing resulted in reducing the strength when cured above 100 0C due to cross over effect. A data base of 56 concrete cubes (subjected to different proportions of constituents used in HSC) is used as reference to develop equation. The resulting equation was used to find the Compressive strength of HSC and is compared with that of experimental and numerical values obtained. The results showed high correlation coefficient r, 97 % and the coefficient of determination r2, 94 % between the actual and predicted values.
