Abstract: |
fast and energy-efficient floating point unit is always needed in electronics industry especially in DSP, image processing and as arithmetic unit in microprocessors. Many numerically intensive applications require rapid execution of arithmetic operations. Arithmetic circuits form an important class of circuits in digital systems. With the remarkable progress in the very large scale integration (VLSI) circuit technology, many complex circuits, unthinkable yesterday have become easily realizable today. Algorithms that seemed impossible to implement now have attractive implementation possibilities for the future. This means that not only the conventional computer arithmetic methods, but also the unconventional ones are worth investigation in new designs. We present the design of an IEEE 754 single precision floating point multiplier. Verilog HDL is used to implement this design. Floating point numbers are one possible way of representing real numbers in binary format; the IEEE 754 standard presents two different floating point formats, Binary interchange format and Decimal interchange format. Multiplying floating point numbers is a critical requirement for applications involving large dynamic range. In this project we focus on single precision normalized binary interchange format. The multiplier design handles the overflow and underflow cases. Rounding is to give more precision when using the multiplier in a Multiply and Accumulate (MAC) unit. |

Abstract: |
Long queues have affected service delivery in Intensive Care Units of many medical facilities. This study is a utility analysis of a queuing problem at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Kenya. The objectives were to determine the average time of a patient in the system, optimum number of beds required and establish the stability of the system. Admission data of ICU for six months was obtained from MTRH. A multi-server queuing Model (M/M/s) was used together with Improved Taguchi Loss Function to analyze the problem and an excel calculator was used to simulate the model results in five scenarios. It was found that the optimum number of beds required in the ICU was 13, which reduces the patient waiting time by 86.06% while server utilization remains good at 77%. Lastly, the stability of the system was found out to be achieved when the bed allocation is between 12 and 14. Therefore, it is recommended that MTRH management, policy makers at county and national level and other health facilities with similar queuing problem improve the overall patient care by installing the optimum number of beds in order to meet the patient needs. |

Abstract: |
Demonetization is a tool to battle Inflation, Black Money, Corruption and Crime, discourage a cash dependent economy and help trade. Its policy of the government by banning Rs. 500 and Rs.1000 currency notes has influenced all almost all the corner of the economy. Its effect on Banking Sector is significant as Bank is a center for channeling the legal tender money to all needs of the society. The reason for this move was simple: India‟s Ministry of Finance claimed that 500 and 1,000 rupee notes are being used to finance terrorism, fund illegal drug sales, fuel the black market, drive counterfeiting, and pay bribes. This so-called ―black money‖ had reputedly built up to such epic proportions that Prime Minister Modi declared that enough was enough, that he would take it upon himself to wash his country‟s currency supply in one fell swoop. Demonetization can be said as a "Surgical Strike‟ on Black Money, Terrorism, Fake Currency, Unorganized trading, Real Estate, Share market etc. on the other hand if we talk about the Indian industry on a broader way it can be categories in three parts Manufacturing sector, Service sector and Agriculture sector. After demonetization only Agriculture sector shows some positive improvement while if we talk about the manufacturing and service sector both were crashed down and these will affect the whole Indian market in 2017 also. The biggest beneficiaries of demonetization are Banks. It made the banks to accept the deposits without any cost of promotion and drastically increased liquidity position of the banks. The present study is made out of available literature on post demonetization. It portrayed the effect of demonetization on three Sectors. |

Abstract: |
Error free transmission is a major concern in advanced electronic circuits. The errors in information occur during transmission which can lead to wrong information at reception. Error correction codes are commonly used to protect the information in memories and registers in electronic circuits. Hamming code is one of such forward error correcting code. It uses either even parity or odd parity check method. Here we implemented hamming code using even parity check method. Hamming code is an improvement over parity check method. Here the hamming code is implemented in Xilinx in which 7-bits of information data is transmitted with 4 redundant bits and it is also implemented in DSCH (Digital Schematic Editor & Simulator) tool. A special parity bit is used to detect the double bit error. Here we used SEDC-DED (Single Bit Error Detection and Correction-Double Bit Error Detection) algorithm for error detection and error correction. |

Abstract: |
Surveillance is critical for military, law enforcement, and search and rescue operations. In the past, stealth aircraft and helicopters were used for these types of missions. Recently however, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have grown in popularity and are an excellent resource that can be utilized for surveillance missions. Since this is a common capability of drones, this project sought to create surveillance UAV that was autonomous, inexpensive, lightweight, and easy to manufacture. The drone was designed as a quadrotor that houses two cameras with a wireless transmission system that provides live feed from the cameras to the ground station. It was also intended to be able to carry a payload for future developments. Though not all of the goals were fully realized by the project's conclusion due to stability and networking complications, the drone met size and cost standards, and could successfully localize its position with GPS and IMU sensors. Additionally, its controls were understood through simulation and testing. |

Abstract: |
A solar drier is designed and developed using evacuated tube collector. The performance of the drier is investigated using mango slices and cluster beans in Thanjavur, Tamilnadu, India. A comparison is also done with another solar drier assisted with flat plate collector. The time taken by solar driers assisted with evacuated tube collector and flat plate collector are 5 hours and 12 hours respectively to reduce the moisture content of mango slices from 78% (wb) to 8.5% (wb). Similarly, the time taken by solar driers assisted with evacuated tube collector and flat plate collector are 9 hours and 13 hours respectively to reduce the moisture content of cluster beans from 85.8% (wb) to 8.9% (wb). The efficiency of the solar drier assisted with evacuated tube collector is observed to be 51.45% and 41.9% for mango and cluster beans respectively. The efficiency of the solar drier assisted with flat plate collector is found to be 30.68% and 32.26% for mango and cluster beans respectively. Eight thin-layer mathematical models are applied to investigate the most suitable model that could explain the drying kinetics of mango slices and cluster beans separately for both the solar driers using IBM SPSS 20 statistical package. From the results it is observed that model developed by Midilli et al having highest correlation coefficient (R2), lowest reduced chi-square (χ2) value and lowest root mean square error (RMSE) value shows a good fit for both the driers for mango slices and for cluster beans. |

Abstract: |
The present study was aimed to study the general impressions of employees on PMS and its impact on employee effectiveness. To this effect, 101 participants including members who were performing well and also who were not performing well were carefully selected from different software firms and who responded to the survey questionnaire. It was found that a substantial number of the employees who were not performing well felt that Performance Management was generally used in controlling employees, it did not help in developing careers and the data derived out of Performance Management is not properly and it was observed that employees who were doing well had a very positive impression. Hence, it can be said that employees' impressions have an impact on their effectiveness. While analyzing the impact of the demographic profiles it was observed that age and occupational status were found to be determinant of employees' perceptions. The chi-square test also proved the same. Gender and educational levels was tested on the variable of satisfaction in which no significant difference was observed. Hence, gender in this case may not differently impact the satisfaction of men and women employees. The output of regression was found to be positive and statistically significant at different levels. This indicates that all the four variables (PRD, CD, SE&M, ID) impacted effectiveness of performance management system significantly. Creating awareness among employees about the importance of Performance Management System is very important for a successful implementation of the same which in turn helps in Employee development and commitment. |

Abstract: |
We are in the era of transforming technology, where secure data transmission plays a vital role in protecting the data. The best means of protecting the data are cryptographic techniques, which are classified as symmetric key cryptography(both the encryption and decryption uses same keys) and asymmetric key cryptography(two different keys are used for encryption and decryption). In this paper we have proposed a new symmetric stream cipher cryptography algorithm with a title Ultramodern Encryption Standard (UES) for secure data transmission which uses prolic series number for generating set of keys, binary and gray code operations for encryption and decryption processes. If an intruder intercepts the message, it is difficult to decipher the message because of multilevel cipher rounds used in this algorithm. We have analyzed the strength of this algorithm over differential cryptanalysis. This algorithm unfailingly follows the Strict Plaintext Avalanche Criterion (SPAC) and Strict Key Avalanche Criterion (SKAC) which gives the study of how differences in input or key can affect the respective output and the results are tabulated. |

International Journal of Latest Engineering Research and Applications, pp 36 - 66, Vol 02 - No. 11, 2017 |
Abstract: |
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model for fans and radial blowers involve about blades and geometry, flow angles, blades rotational speed, and flow velocities. Accurate simulations of such models require large number of mesh points which is beyond the allocated time and available resources for engineering design cycles. When dealing with system or broad level thermal analysis, where a fan or blower is among many components need to be modelled, a macro representation of a fan or a blower is preferred. A macro model of a fan is a plane surface that includes pressure across as the flow passes through it. The pressure airflow relationship is taken from the fan curve provided by the fan made manufacture. A macro model for a radial blower is more involved because of the 90 degree flow turn inside the blowers housing and induced flow swirl caused by impeller blades. The need to capture the flow turn and induced swirl becomes more pronounced when simulating multiple interacting blowers inside a blowers tray. In this paper, a systematic approach is presented to design the blower macro from the existing the fan model. the pack CFD results for the blower tray have been analyzed. A typical use of three fan blower tray in a system representing telecommunication application is also presented at the end. |
